e) Fungi as endophytes
f) Fungal interaction with lower plants, Fungal-Algal association, diversity of lichens, Significance of lichens and pollution indicators
g) Effectors in plant–fungal interactions, Morphological diversification of mushroom-forming fungi
h) Role of fungi in Biotechnology of renewable natural resources, Industrial and biotechnology applications of fungi
Practicals:
1. Study of biodiversity of mushroom forming fungi
2. Observation of fertile structure (lamellae) of basidiocarp under compound microscope
3. Study of Ectomycorrhizal roots of Pines showing different shapes and colour under stereomicroscope.
4. Study of Arbuscularmycorrhizae in the stem of corn.
5. Observation of infected leaf with rust and sori study under compound microscope.
6. Field trip for collection of infected leaves.
7. Biodiversity of Lichens
Course Synopsis
The course is organized to provide an adequate knowledge about plant fungal interactions.
Students are expected to have an understanding of the course outline. They are expected to use this information for further advanced courses in Mycology and Ectomycorrhizal technology
