Course Synopsis

The purpose of the course is to discuss political, constitutional, economic and religious struggle of the Muslims of South Asia under the British Raj.

Course Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, students will be able to understand: 1- Identity politics of south Asia paved the way for struggle against the British power and creation of separate states. 2- The struggle movements in south Asia have become contested power games around the issues of class, caste/ethnicity, gender, region and development. 3- socio-religious elite created awareness and consciousness among the masses of south Asia 4- Independence movements initiated by freedom fighters and gradually handed over to political leaders.
