Course Contents

In this semester course of Quran Translations students will learn about three Surahs, Surah Al-Isra (الإسرﺃ), Al-Kahf (الكهف) and Taha (طه). Surah Al-Isra is in 15th Chapter of Quran. Al-Isra means "The Night Journey". This Surah has 111 Verses. Revelation Place of this Surah is Makkah. This Surah takes its name (Bani Israil) from v. 4. But this name is merely a distinctive appellation like the names of many other surahs and not a descriptive title, and does not mean that "Bani Isra'il" is the theme of this Surah. Surah Alkahaf is in Chapter 15 (Ayaat 1-74) and 16 (Ayaat 75-110) of Quran. It is 18th Surah of Quran and has 110 total verses. This Surah takes its name from v. 9 in which the word (al-kahf) occurs which means "The cave" . Revelation Place of this Surah is Makkah. SurahTaha is in 16th Chapter of Quran and has 135 Verses. This Surah takes its name from its first word: "Ta Ha". This name, like the names of many other Surahs, is merely symbolic. Revelation Place of this Surah is Makkah.
