Course Synopsis

This course describes the Anglo-saxon period to American literary and cultural studies, from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Written forms ranging from illuminated manuscripts to graphic novels, from poetry to postmodern fiction will be explored in this course.

Course Learning Outcomes

 Students will learn to identify themselves effectively in a variety of forms.  Support interpretive claims about a variety of texts (critical thinking).  Identify the salient features of literary texts from a broad range of English and American literary periods.  Demonstrate knowledge of the History or culture of the English language.
