DNA; the primary Genetic material, Structure of DNA, difference between DNA and RNA, Types of DNA and RNA, Replication of DNA, Transcription of protein coding genes and its regulation, Different types of RNA and their role in protein synthesis, structure of tRNA, RNA processing and alternative splicing, DNA repair and recombination, Difference in the prokaryote and eukaryote gene organization, In vitro mutagenesis, insertion deletion and substitution, corrections of DNA lesions and role of DNA polymerases in proof reading, Viruses, DNA and RNA viruses, life cycle of viruses, retro viruses and reverse transcription, cloning of viruses and plaque assays.

This course includes central dogma of molecular biology(DNA, RNA and protein ).
