Course Synopsis

This course provides a vision about certain important concepts of the community and develops an understanding of various principles, methods and approaches of community development. Not only this it also throws light on how the process of community development can be promoted by resolving various conflicts, by promoting local leadership and by encouraging the role of various committees and NGOs. As a major method of Social Work students will learn the essentials of Community Development and the skills of local capacity building. This course provides an analysis of needs in various communities and methods of implementing solutions to meet those needs for a planned change in the society overall to bring sustainable development. Students will learn the structure and role of NGOs. This course will also provide the model examples of successful Community Development Projects.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to understand the community from various angles and would learn how to work for the development of their community by implementing appropriate steps and approaches along with recognizing the importance of participation of local people, local resources and various agencies and groups working in the community.
