Course Synopsis

This course aims to:- 1. Explain basic knowledge and history about the social work profession and the social welfare system. 2. Describe the values and philosophical framework of the social work profession. 3. Identify the various fields and settings for social work practice. 4. Describe the fundamental questions the profession of social work addresses. 5. Identify the basic knowledge about social service agencies and programs in the country. 6. To develop, in students, an increased level of competency in social work.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course students should be able to: 1. Contribute to debate on the social welfare system and process. 2. Comprehend what knowledge, skills, and values social work profession belongs and social workers need during their practice. 3. Understand that how to use strengths, capacities and resources of people in relation to provide them social welfare services. 4. Comprehend the knowledge and skills to work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. 5. Understand the application of social work theory related to interactions among individuals as well as between people and their environments.
