Course Synopsis
The course will help to develop knowledge about the concepts and approaches of urban sociology. The causes, theories, and effects of urbanization will also be explored. The study of human ecology, urban ways of life, neighborhood, residential differentiation and gentrification, urban protest, and comparative urbanism will be carried out. It also focuses on the concept of the welfare state, the juvenile delinquents and the slums or katchi Abadis, its types, conditions, and their issues.
