Course Synopsis
Course objectives
The course aims to familiarize BS students with: basic concepts of Abnormal Psychology; to provide them brief information about historical development and current status of abnormal Psychology; to introduce them with main systems of classification and diagnosis; to provide them knowledge of symptomtology, diagnostic criteria and etiological factors of different psychological disorders.
Active participation of the students in form of discussions will be encouraged to maintain their interest in the course.
Course Learning Outcomes
After completion of the course, students will be able to:
1.To understand abnormal behavior and study how it is caused by critically evaluating all psychological and biological perspectives.
2. Understand and use the DSM-5 system for the classification and diagnosis of psychological disorders.
3. - Critically evaluate different conceptual approaches to etiology and treatment of psychopathology.
