Course Contents
Theory:
1. Fiber identification using technical methods: Microscopic and Chemical
2. Production and performance characteristics of fibres both natural and manmade.
3. Yarn classification and manufacturing: Production of yarn; S and Z Twist; in relation to the appearance of the fabric; Blend varieties; Effect or varying blend components in fabrics available in the market; Novelty yarn:
4. Fabrics construction: Fabrics made without films and paper fabrics etc. Fabrics made from fibre felts; bounded fabrics, etc; Fabrics make from yarn: Braiding, netting, lacing, knitting and weaving.
5. Fabrics Designing: Processes by which color and design are applied to fabric;
6. Fabric finishes in relation to appearance and end use. Pressing, shirking, Napping, water proofing embossing, flame resistance, crease resistance.

Course Synopsis
This course is designed to identify various types and characteristics of fibers and yarns with special focus on the finishes applied on these yarns and fabrics. It also focuses on different techniques used for fabric construction and latest developments in the field of textiles.
