Course Contents

Theory: 1. Definition and importance of housing. Review of housing needs. (basic human needs); Types of Houses. 2. Review of housing conditions in Pakistan in urban and rural areas. 3. Review of building materials. Woods, masonry, concrete, metal, glass and plastic. 4. Planning of the house; Primary considerations; Principle of the house planning. 5. Major elements of interior design structure:-; Floors and floors covering; Walls and walls finishing; Ceiling and ceiling finishing; Doors & Windows (Types and Treatments). 6. Home furnishings. 7. Selection, care and arrangement of furniture, furnishing and accessories. Practical: 1. Living in home Management residence house for 2-3 weeks or Experiment with one work simplification project 2. Designing an ideal house plan on given area. 3. File work based on architectural and interior symbols, landscape designing, zoning and application of suitable colour schemes for residential area.

Course Synopsis

Introduction: The aim of this subject is to equip students with the importance of housing, the location of the house and the basic considerations regarding it. It also aims to tell the importance of building materials, elements of interior design, furniture and accessories. Objectives: 1. Students will learn about the importance of Housing, basic types and urban and rural housing. 2. The importance and usage of different building materials. 3. Importance of space planning and primary consideration for house. 4. Importance of elements of Interior design, furniture arrangement and accessories.
