Family Life Cycle, Size and Composition 4. Resources; Definition, Types; Scarcity and Inter-Relationship of Resources; Management of Specific Resources 5. Management of Income; Types of Income; Saving Importance and Methods 6. Management of Time And Energy; Concept of Management Applied to Time and Energy; Guides to Time Management and Time Planning; Ways of Controlling Energy and Fatigue; Work Simplification in Relation to Making Task 7. Kitchen and Storage; Type of Kitchen; Principle of Storage; Importance of Functional Storage 8. Flower arrangement principles, types of flower arrangements – fresh and dry. 9. Selection, care and maintenance of utensils, equipments and electrical appliances. Practical: 1. Making time and activity plan for oneself. 2. Make money budget for a group of five of six members of Low Income and Middle Income Families. 3. Evaluate some major electrical appliances being used in Pakistani homes in relation to care, design, functional use and efficiency.

Course Synopsis

Introduction: The subject deals with a systematic study of management of resources in the family to achieve the goals and improve the quality of life of the families and individuals. The theory and application of home management creates interest in resource management as a subject of teaching, learning and application. It is a combination of art and science. Objectives: 1. The syllabi focuses on basics of resource management, decision making, work simplification, interior decoration, savings and consumerism, which help students to become good home maker, wise consumer and entrepreneur. 2. It also emphasizes on developing skills in time-management, family budget, flower arrangement and home decoration.

Outcomes: 1. Students became good home maker, wise consumer and entrepreneur. They have in-depth knowledge of basics of resource management, decision making, work simplification, interior decoration, savings and consumerism. 2.
