Surveying Practical
The field work in surveying shall be based on the above instruments, the students shall be required to carry out exercises on surveying, using Plane Table, Chain and Tape, Prismatic Compass and levelling equipment’s.
Course Synopsis
This course will train students in surveying of small areas, map drawing and reading. To make them understand the use of various modern scientific equipments used for surveys.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the student will:
• Perform basic land surveying instruments and perform related calculations.
• Explain the difference between plane surveying and geodetic surveying
• calculate the differences in elevation using differential leveling techniques
• discuss the difference between the capabilities of a Total Station and instruments used only for electronic distance measurement
• Gain a basic understanding of the principles and operation of the Global Positioning System
