Introduction: Definitions and concepts, Types of monitoring; chemical, physical and Biological monitoring of air, water, soil, and biological and ecological systems, Techniques and technologies required for environmental monitoring: Identification, Collection and preparation of samples for monitoring from different categories (air, water, soil etc.), Selecting equipment and suitable methods of analysis. Course Synopsis

train students to differentiate between different type of pollutants and their mobility in the environment in different sectors.

Course Learning Outcomes

This course aims to: Give the concept of environmental monitoring and provide information of techniques used in environmental monitoring. Evaluate different standards of environmental factors i.e. air, water, soil and living organisms and provide understanding of the analysis and monitoring of air, water, soil. Give understanding of the procedures to study case projects at national and global level and emphasize the importance of remote sensing, GIS and GPS for the study of environment.
