Course Contents
Key concepts in climatology and meteorology, Composition and structure of atmosphere, Elements and factors of climate, Pressure and winds (Jet streams, air masses and fronts cyclones, tropical and temperate), Atmospheric humidity, Condensation, clouds, fog, mist, precipitation -forms and types (storms, tornadoes and thunderstorms), classification of climates (Acritical study of Koppen, Miller, and Thornthwaite classifications of major climates, climatic types), Climatic change and variability (Climatic changes consequent upon the phenomena, Global warming, Ocean currents, El-Nino and La-Nina, causes, impacts and trends), Climatic data collection, presentation and analysis.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Introduce basic concept of climate and its factors
2. Important knowledge about spatial and temporal variations in climate and major climatic regions of the world.
3. Develop skills among students for analyzing issues related with climate change variability.
