Course Synopsis
Creative writing as distinct academic field is gaining much importance these days and despite the fact that it is considered to be a gifted ability, efforts are being made to drill the students with techniques and ideas to polish it. As a new course, “Dynamics of Creative Writing” aims at acquainting the students with the basic and advance creative writing skills along with equipping them with the new experimental techniques being used by writers.
The main purpose of this course is to find out the possibility of creative writing in the students and establishing their skills to a level ahead. It is designed with a view to enable the students to express their thoughts/ideas and understanding of the world around them in the most effective and creative ways possible. The course focuses on a variety of genres of creative writing including poetry, short story, novelette, novel and travelogue etc. The course will provide students with a platform where they can experiment with new forms of creative writing using various techniques of expression.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the students should be able to
• Understand the technical differences between different genres of creative writing
• Grasp and make use of various creative writing techniques
• Have a deeper understanding of the difference between a story and a plot.
• Draft, rewrite and complete a publishable creative writing project (story/novel etc)
• Produce a Creative Writing Portfolio for final ass
