Course Synopsis

This course is designed to enhance student's overall understanding of American novel and poetry. The course focuses on the development of American drama in 20th century with special emphasis on the influence of various movements like transcendentalism, naturalism, modernism, local color and expressionism.

Course Learning Outcomes

The students would be able to appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of American experience. They would be able to critique the different voices of social protest and individualism in early American literature.
