Course Contents

This course provides practical training in the specific skills needed by working journalists, particularly in the magazine industry. Throughout the course students will be learning and developing skills in sub-editing, typography and design and more advanced writing styles for features and specialized reporting Outline: • Introduction, history and significance of magazine journalism • Duties of a magazine editor • Popular contents of Pakistan magazines • How to produce a good magazine • Why magazine is important for a newspaper • Practice: writing a rough sketch of a magazine, specialized magazine. The students will submit the articles, features etc for any magazine at the time of mid term examination and will submit a complete a magazine at the end of the semester.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students will acquire skills in news and feature writing, specialized reporting, sub-editing, design, law, public administration and the business of publishing. Working with industry professionals to a high standard they will create their own magazines to give the edge.
