Course Synopsis

During this course the principle and major application of solvent extraction will be covered. It will also include the various ways of doing extraction. The course will also cover another separation technique, Electrophoresis, that is extremely important in Bioanalytical chemistry. The course will cover its theory, Principle, Instrumentation, working and applications. In lab course applications of two important analytical techniques will covered i.e. Spectrophotometry and Flame photometry also their use in qualitative and quantitative analysis on lab scale.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students are able to learn two important separation techniques in Analytical chemistry: Solvent Extraction and Electrophoresis. Student are able to learn about their advantages as well as limitations. They will understand the theory, instrumentation and working of the techniques with total lab protocols regarding these techniques. Students will improve their lab skills as well as instrumentation skills during the lab work. They will be able to handle the important basic analytical instruments; spectrophotometer and Flame photometer. They will also be able to apply these instruments in qualitative and quantitative analysis.
