Course Synopsis
The aim of this course is to outline the understanding of the development of the visual arts in South Asia in different eras and to examine the production and use of the visual arts in their social, political and religious contexts in South Asia.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion students should be able to:
• Evaluate the approaches of art historians and anthropologists to the visual arts and material culture of South Asia.
• Identify and analyze aspects of South Asian visual arts and culture using appropriate vocabulary and knowledge.
