Course Synopsis
professional development practices. The course further focuses on exploring the scholarly literature on teacher professional development, teacher knowledge in practice, on practice and for practice. After covering an exhaustive literature the course will focus on the conduct of context-based research, and development of English/ESP courses, in particular.
Aims and Objectives
The course aims to:
1. Develop learners’ conceptual and practical understanding of the field which encompasses
new trends and underpinnings of continuous professional development
2. New trends and paradigm shift from staff development to Continuous Professional
Development
3. Familiarize learners with the models and types of Continuous Professional Development
4. Evaluate English Language/Teacher training programmes
5. Develop professional development course by following theoretical stages (needs analysis,
goals, aims, objectives, implementation and appraisal)
