Leadership in Learning Organization Class: MS, Education Course title: Leadership in Learning Organization Course Code: EDU-622 Credit hours: 3 COURSE DESCRIPTION: Comparative Studies in Educational Leadership and Management is focused upon the study of management in an international context. This course examines and compares educational leadership and management practices of individual countries and cultures. The study of comparative management requires a basic understanding of organizational behavior in a highly competitive global marketplace. The course considers management functions and skills including similarities and differences between domestic and international management. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will work toward the following objectives: 1. Become acquainted with the body of knowledge on comparative educational leadership & management, which is fundamental for developing global sensibility of the subject. 2. Review and understand that educational leadership & management literature serves as the foundation for developing research agenda in the context of an important country like Pakistan. 3. Identify and consider adopting the attitudes that are necessary to work effectively in provincial, national and international contexts. 4. Explore the relationship between theory and practice as it pertains to educational leadership &management in a highly competitive global market place. Course Synopsis

This course is specifically designed to develop leadership qualities in post graduate students for leading educational reforms, policies and practices so that students can carve out their own ways to meet challenges of 21st century educational needs and demands. The course incorporates leadership theories and models for making educational change. It encompasses the trends and challenges of managing change in learning organizations.

Course Learning Outcomes

After studying the course, the students can: 1. Differentiate between the concept of leadership, administration, management and supervision 2. Analyze concepts, theories and models of educational leadership and management 3. Evaluate different theories and come up to the best approach 4. Apply key theories of leadership to their own working environment 5. Explore ways in which educational management and leadership can contribute to improving quality of teaching and learning process
