Course Synopsis
Modern governments are based on effective representation of people. Local government contributes to the strengthening of democracy. In Pakistan, Local Government is the third tier of the government, the first two being the Central and Provincial governments. Local government operates both in rural and urban areas and provides representation at grass root level. It serves as a training ground for mass political education and mobilization.
Course Learning Outcomes
By studying this course students would develop analytical skills in determining specific local public needs and how these local needs could be met.
Study of local govt would help in the comparative analysis of the role and functioning of the local govt system of Pakistan.
