Course Synopsis
Sustainable built environments are vital to the overall environmental sustainability effort. Sustainable Interior Design has minimum negative effects and maximum positive effects on the environment throughout the building’s life cycle. It is a peculiar case of ‘Sustainability’ which is the concept of development that addresses current needs while remaining adaptable enough to ensure that needs of the future are fulfilled.
The Students will further be studying the Advanced Materials and materials that are sustainable. They will be studying their functions, usage, methods to use, and structure in which to apply advance materials. The relation and fit between Material and Structure. It is a socially, environmentally responsible way of practicing Interior Design. The Course has been divided in four parts (Two Parts for each Semester) in order to acquire a comprehensive understanding, methodology and skill to deal with the issues of Sustainability.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Develop an ability to look at the world from a “Systems Perspective”.
2. Recognize, analyze and tackle a given problem using the problem-solving methodologies in a design process and gain an understanding of cross-disciplinary concepts of Sustainability.
