Course Synopsis

Second year studio shall focus on developing the student’s understanding of space, its constituents and its articulation as to how various elements (light, geometry, materials, color, texture) act in unison to produce the architectural experience, and the exercise to manipulate these very elements to achieve the required ambiance. Each element mentioned above will become the basis of exploration and the exploration will culminate in a design proposal. This understanding of space or experience of architecture will in the 2nd term the key to designing. The students will understand that the experience of space goes beyond the function but always through it.

Course Learning Outcomes

On course completion the students will be able to: 1. apply basic interior design skills. 2. draw furniture in plan & elevation, which accurately represents the piece. 3. achieve good design skills and produce floor plans, elevations board presentation(s), title blocks and prints of drawings 4. use multiple line weights or thicknesses to clarify the drawings.
