What is textile design and its types (Geometric, floral, Figural and conversational). Color as a main element of textile design. What is color Tone? Understanding of Color tones of primary and secondary colors. Reorganization and extraction of color tones from different mediums. What are color schemes? Warm and cool color application into self-created designs inspired from textile fabric swatches. (Internet Search). Collecting fabric swatches to understand the textile design, patterns and color schemes. Color rendering or merging , Replica of textile designs ( to understand the rendering of different colors to create texture and 3D effect). Color rendering in the background of design. Design creation from the patterns and color schemes of ancient civilization . What is repeat in textile design and how we can achieve it?. Mirror or block repeat of one design or pattern to create boarder design or tile design. Off set and diamond repeat to create continuous textile design (Rotary designs). Repeating design in circular form by using patterns.


Course Learning Outcomes

This course will help the student to understand the importance of ideas, creativity, aesthetics and visualization for design development. Student will gain the knowledge of textile design, how it develop and what are technical terms used in textile field. They will learn about the importance of color in textile design and how color schemes developed for application in designs. Students will learn about the development process of textile design which include theme selection, sketching, rendering till color application. The ability to create 2D, 3D and texture effect in designs with colors. Repeating patterns in different ways will help them to create mathematically proper and aesthetically pleasing designs. Students will learn how to make design from any inspirational topic or theme to express their feeling and thought about the topic or theme. Understanding of color application in positive and negative spaces of design to create 2D, 3D and texture effects manually. Understanding about different methods of repeat.
