• Enzyme Kinetics: Kinetics of single substrate enzyme catalysed reactions- Michaelis-Menten equation, Significance of Km, The Line weaver-Burk plot, Turn over number, Kinetics of multi substrate enzyme catalysed reactions- Ping-Pong bi-bi mechanism, Random order mechanism, Compulsory-order mechanism, Pre Steady state kinetics, Steady state kinetics.
• Enzyme Inhibition: Competitive inhibition, Uncompetitive inhibition, Non-competitive inhibition, mixed inhibition, Partial inhibition, Substrate inhibition, Allosteric inhibition and Irreversible inhibition.
• Enzyme Extraction and Purification: Extraction of soluble enzymes, membrane bound enzymes, Preliminary purification procedures, Advanced purification procedures.
• Clinicaly Relavent Enzymes: Application of enzymes in medicine, Lactate dehydrogenase, Alkaline phosphatase, Acid phosphatase, Ornithine carbamoyltransferase.
• Enzyme Immobilization: Physical and chemical techniques for enzyme immobilization-Adsorption, Matrix entrapment, Encapsulation, Cross-linking, Covalent bonding, Advantages and disadvantages, Application of immobilized enzymes.
