This course covers the advances topics related to Computer Networks including The TCP/IP protocol stack, PHY Layer, MAC Layer, IP Layer, Transport Layer & Application Layer. Wireless: Radio basics, WLAN (802.11), Mobile Networks (GSM, GPRS, UMTS), Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, Mobile IP, Satellite Systems. Network Security: PKI, IPSec, VPN, etc. Management: Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet Rate Adaptation, Congestion Control and Fairness in Internet, Queuing Theory, Network Coding, etc

Course Synopsis

This course focuses on high level details of the computer networks and aims to highlight some of the emerging and advanced technologies in the said domain. It aims to give students an insight into the core of computer networks with emphasis on the design, deployment and technical details of networks and their architecture.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will: • Gain in depth insight into the field of Computer Networks. • Understand design principles for different kinds of Wired and Wireless networks. • Understand Security requirements for Wired and Wireless Networks. • Understand QoS mechanisms in the Internet for different services.
