Current Electricity Electric current, Ohm's law, Current density (J), Resistivity (p), Conductivity, Equation of continuity, Ohm's law, Kirchoff's Rule I and II, Alternating current, RLC series circuit (Resonance Frequency) 3. Electromagnetism Magnetic force on a charged particle, Magnetic force on a current carrying conductor, Torque on a current loop, Magnetic flux density, Amphere's circuital law, Differential form of Ampere's law, Applications to solenoid and toroid, Induced emf and Induced current, Faraday's law, Lenz's law. 4. Modern Physics Basic review of Modern Physics (Origin of Quantum Theory), The Black body and energy distribution in the spectrum of black body, Failure of Electromagnetic theory to explain Photoelectric emission, Plank's Quantum Theory, Einstein Photoelectric Equation, Dual Nature of Electromagnetic Radiations. 5. Nuclear Physics Properties of Nucleus, Discovery of Atomic nucleus, nuclear charge, nuclear mass, nuclear sizes, angular momentum and nuclear magnetic moment, mass defect and binding energies, natural radioactivity, half life of radioactive element, law of radioactive decay, Average and mean life of radioactive elements.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students will become familiar with mechanism of electric and magnetic fields and its correlation and can utilize their knowledge to study the response of various of electronic circuits in the presence of both fields.
