Course Synopsis

This course is designed: • To create Understanding of the roles of the various phases of natural hazard management and issues concerning planning and policies in those phases. • To examine the types, frequency, geographic distribution, and current scientific understanding of different types of natural hazards

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, the student will: • Able to understand hazard and disaster from an earth science perspective • know the relationship of hazard studies with geography • Find out the spatial distribution of hazardous prone areas of the world • Understand the rehabilitation processes of natural and physical hazards areas • Able to create mitigation strategies and associated opportunities for policy development • To locate hazardous areas using GIS mapping techniques
