Course Synopsis

This course is designed to help students to sharpen their study habits in a variety of areas, including: listening; speaking; reading; writing; note¬taking; studying for tests; critical thinking; time management; memorization techniques; and goal¬setting. It further includes practical exercises to implement active learning strategies, to sharpen study skills. Aims and Objectives: The course aims: 1. To develop students’ skills, techniques and strategies in order to carry out university studies in an effective way, which includes being as autonomous as possible 2. To enable students to deal with learning difficulties 3. To build students’ self-confidence and positive thinking to achieve success at university and after graduation

Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course students will be able to: -Know and apply self management skills to direct their academic performance and life choices -Understand the ways in which they learn most easily and most enjoyable -Define their own goals and preferences as they embark in their university career -Create and use study systems, think critically, concentrate, read and listen with understanding, -Develop and implement strategies to manage their time effectively, -Develop effective test and examination taking skills -Use skills to continue life-long learning on their own
