Course Contents

The studio course is delivered through a combination of inspirational lectures and hands on individual assignment to refine their understanding of graphical language of design. In addition to talks on medium of drawings and the scale referencing of drawings on paper, the students are also encouraged to learn the impact of different colors and texture in drawings. The language of symbols and fixtures are also the part of this course work which is the basic need of Architectural drawings. The sciagraphy and orthographical projection of the objects and the building, and the understanding of preparation of Floor Plans, Building Plans, Elevations, Sectional details of a building. The understanding of symbols and fixture use for specific purposes are also included in this course work.

Course Synopsis

The Visual Communication pertains to cross-disciplinary textual and applied resources. The visual communication design education aims to develop in students the competency in design towards creating an effective visual language and communicating with it. The study program included a learning model to practice the visual and graphical representation of Architectural Drawings which will allow students to understand well the communication language of design skills. This course also provides the architectural visual design thinking and problem-solving techniques. The focus of the department is on the exploration of drawings through a comprehensive analysis of the visual and graphical techniques that can integrate the better understanding of color, texture, theme, harmony, and medium in students.

Course Learning Outcomes

The main objective of this course is to enhance the learning tools and techniques to develop and present the ideas graphically. An introductory studio course familiarizing the student with graphic design basics: typography, the creative process, design terminology and theory, design principles, tools and materials, 2-D layout, and basic non-Euclidian geometry perspectives. To understand the visual communication as tools of design. This would help students to use design elements and principal to create new ideas and innovations. Students have the opportunity to develop and refine freehand drawing skills, rendering skills and technical drawing skills
