What is computer? Characteristics of computer, advantages of computer, uses of computer,Types of computer, classifications of computers, Computers in near future.Computer hardware and software, Components of computer, processor, machine cycle, microprocessor, system clock Memory unit: RAM, ROM, Cache Memory and processing with memory. Mother board, Expansion slots, computer buses, ports and power supply. Input and Input devices: keyboard, mouse, joystick, track ball, touch pad, light pen, microphone. Input devices: digital camera and scanner. Output and output devices: CRT monitors, Flat panel monitors, printers. Output devices: plotter, speaker and headset and digital light projector. Secondary storage devices: magnetic storage devices (hard disk, floppy disk). Optical storage devices (CD ROM, CD ROM drive, DVD ROM, CD-R and CD writer, CD-RW and CD-RW drive). Removable storage devices: flash memory devices, external hard disk, CDs, DVDs, smart cards. Number System: Non Positional number system, Positional number system. Conversion from one number system to another.
